CarolMake a New Year resolution to set time aside to be more creative, develop your artistic ideas or explore new skills. We are ready to welcome you at Beetlefelt with lots of fabulous art and craft workshops.

Try your hand at making a Willow Basket Workshop with Juliette Hamilton, get to grips with Patchwork or an Appliqué Workshop with Lisa Watson. Take the plunge and book onto the series of four Mixed Media Drawing Workshops with Maggie Holland.

Sewing Surgery with Carol Mowl

This is such a good opportunity to gain advice about all sorts of questions you may have about sewingGet help with your machine; learn how to get the tension right for different fabrics, get advice about which machine to buy and find out where to get your machine serviced.

You will pick up lots of tips for sewing, for example learn useful short cuts and get help following a pattern. Bring along your fabric and pattern and get started you are sure to feel satisfied when you realise you can make your own clothes. On week one you are given a kit to make a bag.

Daytime and evening Sewing Surgery is a series of four workshops - every Thursday - each month, £56.

Tie Dye T-shirts with Dee Sayce

We dyed our fabrics and T-shirts using Logwood and Madder natural dyes and enjoyed discovering beautiful and complicated patterns. The stitches and ties were untied and retied and over-dyed!  We used shibori techniques with ropes and pipes and tritik techniques with a variety of stitch patterns.

Felt PictureNeedle Felted Pictures

with Carol Mowl

A wonderful woolly time was had designing and making needle felted pictures. Using a variety of threads and fabrics the students were excited to see their pictures develop.

We are running lots of needle felting workshops in 2014 including how to make sheep, cats (or dogs), birds and more Needle Felted Picture making on Sunday 23rd March 10am-1pm, £30.

Weaving Workshops with Carol Mowl

We are weaving every Wednesday so come along and try out the looms and develop your own style of weaving. This is a workshop for complete beginners and experienced students wishing to learn more about drafting and designing warps.

Sashiko with Isabel Dibbden-Wright

The Sashiko technique has evolved from the need to conserve and repair garments at a time when cloth was precious. This series of three workshops will give you an insight into Sashiko and the designs associated with it. Learn the techniques involved and develop a project of your own. Book onto the next series starting on Monday 31st March 7-9pm, then 7th & 14th April, £52.

Rag Bags Next meeting is Sunday 26th January. We are meeting up on the last Sunday of the month every month at the ‘Nip and Tipple’ pub to continue rag rugging projects and try out different techniques to recycle rags into beautiful things.
